Activity means any activity that a company may be lawfully formed to carry on and includes the holding, acquisition or disposal of property of whatsoever kind. A company may not be incorporated and registered unless it appears to the Registrar of Companies that the company, when registered, will carry on an activity in the State.
Form A1 contains a declaration, to be signed by a director or secretary of the company, or the solicitor, if any, engaged in the formation of the company, that one of the purposes for which the company is being formed is the carrying on by it of an activity in the State. This declaration must include the following particulars:

In the event that a company is being formed to carry on two or more activities within the State, the particulars to be furnished in the declaration are those relating to the principal activity which the company is being formed to carry on in the State.
The Companies Act 2014 requires a declaration to be made which is simply a statement by an officer or solicitor regarding the activity being carried on by a company. Any person who makes a declaration which to his knowledge is false or misleading in any material respect is liable to prosecution in the District Court, and on conviction, will be subjected to a fine and/or imprisonment.
